- Nonwoven Carrier Handling
- Selectable Bondline Construction
Product Description
3M Scotch-Weld Structural Adhesive Film AF 163-2 OST is a modified epoxy structural adhesive film with a matte nonwoven carrier and one-side-tack construction. The differentiated tack surfaces support layup control by providing higher tack on one side and a lower-tack surface on the carrier side. Available AF 163-2 OST weights provide selectable bondline thickness and color for prepared metal, composite, and honeycomb assemblies. The family supports low-pressure and vacuum cure processing. Substrate preparation, primer, pressure, and cure cycle define the complete bonding process.
Key features
- One Side Tack Construction: Differentiated tack surfaces support controlled film placement during layup.
- Nonwoven Carrier Support: The matte carrier improves handling before heat cure.
- Selectable Film Weights: Multiple areal weights provide options for bondline construction.
Applications
Structural bonding of prepared aerospace metals, composites, and honeycomb assemblies where one-side tack supports layup.
