Product Description

BIOACT 280 Wax Remover is a semi-aqueous cleaner based on aliphatic esters and surface-active agents for heated immersion dewaxing. It quickly dissolves paraffinic and microcrystalline plating waxes and thermoplastic fixturing waxes, while also removing pitches, greases, buffing compounds, metalworking fluids, hydraulic fluids, coolants, and lubricating oils. The product is used at full concentration in heated immersion equipment, with mechanical agitation and heated DI-water rinsing. Typical data include a 141°C flash point, very low odor, vapor pressure below 0.002 mmHg at 20°C, and wax loading up to 40%. It is compatible with many polymers, elastomers, and ferrous and non-ferrous alloys and is documented for multiple aerospace processes.

Application

Application and Processing

Use BIOACT 280 at full concentration in heated immersion equipment. Control bath temperature, agitation, rinsing, and material compatibility according to the wax, component geometry, substrate, and applicable aerospace process.

Wash-bath concentration: 100% concentration.
Wash-bath temperature: 88–96°C (190–205°F) for wax removal.
DI-water rinse temperature: 88–96°C (190–205°F). Mechanical agitation is recommended.

 

Wax-Removal Sequence

Stage 1
Prepare the heated wash bath
Charge the immersion tank with BIOACT 280 at full concentration and heat the bath to 88–96°C (190–205°F) for wax-removal operations.
Stage 2
Dissolve the wax
Immerse the component and use air, liquid, or mechanical agitation as appropriate. Lower temperatures may be evaluated for oil and grease removal.
Stage 3
Complete the heated rinse
Remove the cleaner with a heated DI-water rinse at 88–96°C (190–205°F). Many systems use two or three successive rinses; verify cleanliness before the next process.
Storage and Handling

Store BIOACT 280 in its original, sealed container at or above 50°F (10°C) and protect the product from freezing. The documented shelf life is 36 months under these conditions. Standard packages include 36 lb (16 kg) pails and 400 lb (181 kg) drums. Consult the current SDS for safe handling, exposure controls, storage, and disposal requirements.
