BIOACT EC-88

Main features

  • Broad Inline Defluxing
  • Non-Foaming High-Loading Wash Bath
  • 10 to 25% Aqueous Concentration

Product Description

BIOACT EC-88 is a proprietary, inherently non-foaming aqueous defluxer developed for high-throughput inline spray-in-air cleaning equipment. Used at 10–25% concentration in water, it removes lead-free, no-clean, RMA, water-soluble, and HMP flux residues, along with fingerprint oils, white residues, and ionic contamination. BIOACT EC-88 combines high flux-loading capacity with long wash-bath life and does not require defoamer or pH-booster additives. Typical process temperatures are 50–70°C for both the wash bath and DI-water rinse, supporting controlled post-solder cleaning of PCB assemblies in aqueous inline systems.

Key features

  • Inline spray-in-air defluxing: Specifically designed for aqueous inline spray-in-air cleaning equipment.
  • Broad flux-residue removal: Removes lead-free, no-clean, RMA, water-soluble, and HMP flux residues.
  • Ionic and process-soil removal: Removes ionic contamination, fingerprint oils, and white residues.
  • Inherently non-foaming: Supports inline spray processing without a separate defoamer.
  • High flux-loading capacity: Supports long wash-bath life under a controlled cleaning process.
  • No bath additives required: Does not require defoamer or pH-booster additives to maintain the documented process.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Aqueous inline spray-in-air defluxing
  • Post-solder cleaning of PCB assemblies
  • Removal of lead-free, no-clean, RMA, water-soluble, and HMP flux residues
  • Removal of white residues, fingerprint oils, and ionic contamination

Application

Inline Cleaning Process

Use BIOACT EC-88 in aqueous inline spray-in-air equipment. Establish concentration, wash temperature, DI-water rinse temperature, conveyor settings, spray pressure, and bath-management controls for the assembly, flux chemistry, soil loading, and required cleanliness endpoint.

Wash-bath concentration: Dilute BIOACT EC-88 to 10–25% concentration in water.
Wash-bath temperature: Operate at 50–70°C (120–160°F).
DI-water rinse temperature: Operate at 50–70°C (120–160°F).

Inline Defluxing Sequence

Stage 1
Prepare the wash bath
Prepare a 10–25% BIOACT EC-88 solution in water and heat the wash section to 50–70°C (120–160°F). Confirm concentration and equipment compatibility.
Stage 2
Run the inline spray process
Process PCB assemblies through the aqueous inline spray-in-air system using validated conveyor speed, spray pressure, nozzle configuration, and exposure time.
Stage 3
Rinse and verify cleanliness
Rinse with DI water at 50–70°C (120–160°F), then verify the required ionic, visual, and process-cleanliness endpoint before downstream handling.
Storage and Handling

Store BIOACT EC-88 in its original, sealed container above 50°F (10°C) and protect the product from freezing. The documented shelf life is 36 months under these conditions. Standard packages include 40 lb (18 kg) pails and 440 lb (200 kg) drums. Consult the current SDS for complete handling, storage, exposure-control, spill-response, and disposal requirements.

Defluxing and Bath Guidance

Supported flux and process soils
BIOACT EC-55removes lead-free, no-clean, RMA, water-soluble, and HMP flux residues, plus fingerprint oils, white residues, and ionic contamination. Confirm the actual flux chemistry, assembly materials, residue condition, and cleanliness requirement.
Bath loading and additive control
The formulation is inherently non-foaming and is documented for high flux-loading capacity and long wash-bath life without defoamer or pH-booster additives. Establish site-specific concentration, contamination, filtration, and bath-change controls.
Supported use contexts
