Product Description

Devcon® Flexane® 94 Liquid is a low-viscosity, castable, non-shrinking urethane compound that cures at room temperature to a rigid rubber material. The black, two-component system has a mixed viscosity of 6,000 cP, a 10-minute pot life at 24°C, and a 5-hour demolding time. It is designed to reproduce low- to medium-volume or discontinued rubber parts, form flexible molds and non-scratching fixtures or linings, and encapsulate wire and electronics exposed to impact, vibration, expansion, and contraction. Typical cured properties include 97 Shore A hardness, 500% elongation, 19.3 MPa tensile strength, and 14 kV/mm dielectric strength.

Devcon® Flexane® 94 Liquid

Devcon Flexane 94 Liquid is a castable, non-shrinking urethane that cures at room temperature to a rigid rubber material. Its low mixed viscosity supports pouring into molds, fixtures, linings, and encapsulation cavities, while the cured material combines 97 Shore A hardness with high elongation and tear resistance.

Application

Surface Preparation, Mixing, and Application

Prepare and prime the substrate for the required adhesion level, condition the Flexane components to 65-85°F (18-29°C), mix until the material is uniform and streak-free, then pour from one side of the mold or cavity to help displace air.

Conditioning and mix ratio: Condition to 65-85°F (18-29°C) and combine 69 parts resin with 31 parts curing agent by weight.
Pot life and demolding: Pot life is 10 minutes at 75°F (24°C); documented demolding time is five hours.
Cure progression: Allow 10 hours before light service, 16 hours for functional cure, and seven days at 70°F (21°C) for full cure.

 

Application Sequence

Stage 1
Clean, roughen, and prime
Remove oil, grease, and dirt. Roughen metal or rubber as directed. For maximum adhesion on metal, sandblast to a 2-3 mil profile and near-white SSPC-SP5 finish, then prime immediately to limit oxidation.
Stage 2
Mix to a uniform consistency
For 1 lb units, mix for two minutes while scraping the sides and bottom, transfer to the supplied plastic container, and mix for two additional minutes. For 10 lb units, use a suitable propeller mixer for approximately 4-6 minutes and keep the propeller submerged to limit entrained air.
Stage 3
Brush, pour, de-air, and cure
Brush a thin coat over the substrate, then pour from one side. Gently pass hot air over the surface to break visible bubbles without overheating. Allow the documented demolding, light-service, functional-cure, and full-cure intervals before loading.

Primer and Surface Guidance

Substrate Primer Preparation guidance
Metal FL-10 Primer Clean and roughen. For maximum tear resistance, moisture exposure, or water immersion, use FL-10 and FL-20.
Rubber FL-20 Primer Clean and roughen until the surface appears new or deeper in color. Use FL-10 on hard-to-bond rubber; porous rubber may require multiple coats.
Wood FL-20 Primer Confirm the substrate is clean, dry, and structurally sound before priming.
Fiberglass FL-20 Primer Remove contamination and prepare the surface before applying the primer.
Concrete FL-20 Primer Use on clean, dry, sound concrete and validate adhesion under the intended conditions.
Rigid plastics FL-20 Primer - two coats Confirm plastic compatibility and validate the complete preparation and cure process.
Storage and Handling

Store Devcon Flexane 94 Liquid in a cool, dry place. The technical data sheet lists 1 lb kit and 10 lb order configurations, while the current manufacturer product page also identifies NSN 8030-01-036-9228. Use only for industrial applications and consult the current SDS for complete handling, exposure-control, first-aid, storage, and disposal requirements.
